Mohs Hardness Rating: 5.5–6.5
Scientific Description:
Rhodonite is a manganese silicate mineral known for its striking pink to rose-red color, often streaked or veined with black manganese oxide. It typically forms in massive, granular, or tabular crystals and is sometimes mistaken for Rhodochrosite, though it is more opaque and structurally distinct. Rhodonite’s vibrant contrast between pink and black makes it a popular stone for cabochons, beads, and decorative carvings.
Metaphysical Properties:
Rhodonite is considered a stone of compassion, healing, and emotional balance. It is believed to resonate strongly with the heart chakra, encouraging forgiveness, reconciliation, and unconditional love. This stone is often used to release past wounds, soothe emotional shock, and bring calm during times of stress or trauma. The black veining is thought to symbolize grounding and stability, helping to integrate love into practical action. Rhodonite is also said to enhance self-confidence, encourage generosity, and support discovering and living one’s life purpose.
