Scientific Description:
Ammonites are the fossilized remains of extinct marine mollusks that thrived between 240–65 million years ago. Their spiral shells, often preserved in iridescent colors, are formed from aragonite or calcite and sometimes display a natural rainbow-like sheen (known as ammolite when gem-quality). These fossils carry the imprint of ancient ocean life and represent a deep link to Earth’s history.
Metaphysical Properties:
Ammonite is considered a stone of ancient wisdom, grounding, and continuous evolution. Its spiral pattern symbolizes the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, guiding individuals through transformation and personal growth. Energetically, Ammonite is believed to activate the root chakra, bringing stability, protection, and grounding while also stimulating the flow of chi (life force energy) through the body. Many use it for prosperity, vitality, and to align with natural cycles. Ammonite is also thought to help release negative energy, encourage survival instincts, and enhance connection to Earth’s elemental forces.
